Panel cutting optimizer for chipboard and MDF

Advanced cut planning for sheets, panels and bars — with maximum material yield.

Free · nothing saved · a real optimisation in under a minuteWe cut material waste and turn every sheet into perfectly planned pieces.

Inputs

What you put into OptimCut

You define the available material and the required parts, OptimCut handles the rest.

Sheets & panels

Dimensions of the raw sheets in stock, with thickness and quantity.

Parts list

The parts you need, with exact width, length and quantity.

Blade thickness

The cut width (kerf) for a precise loss calculation.

Grain direction

Material grain orientation for the parts that require it.

Outputs

What you get back

A clear cutting plan, ready to apply straight in production.

  • Visual cutting layoutEach sheet with the exact position of every part, ready to print.
  • Cut listThe optimal cutting sequence for the machine operator.
  • Material reportTotal usage, reusable offcuts and the waste percentage.
  • Export & sharePlans exportable to PDF for the workshop and for clients.

Constraints

The rules it respects

OptimCut accounts for the real limits of your workshop.

Blade thickness (kerf)

Material loss on every cut is calculated exactly.

Grain direction

Grained parts are laid out in the correct direction.

Guillotine cuts

Respects the straight end-to-end cuts machines require.

Safety margins

A reserve on the edges for clamping and handling the sheet.

How it works

The optimization engine

An algorithm that finds the best layout out of millions of combinations.

  1. 01

    1. Demand analysis

It reads the required parts, available material and all constraints.

  2. 02

    2. Layout generation

Thousands of placement options are tested for every sheet.

  3. 03

    3. Optimization

It picks the combination with the least waste and the fewest sheets.

  4. 04

    4. Final plan

It delivers the cutting layout ready to use in the workshop.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About the chipboard cutting software

What is OptimCut?

OptimCut is online software for optimizing chipboard (PAL) and MDF panel cutting in furniture workshops. Enter the parts you need and the boards in stock, and the software calculates the cutting plan with the least waste, the cut sheet for the saw and the labels for the parts.

Do I need to install anything?

No. OptimCut runs in your browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux, tablet or phone. The calculation runs on our servers, so it's fast even on an older computer.

Can I use OptimCut for free?

Yes. The Trial account is free, no card required, with 3 optimizations per month. When you need more, the Pro plan costs 20 EUR per month and includes 20 optimizations per day.

Does it account for grain, edge banding and blade thickness?

Yes. For each part you choose whether it can be rotated (grain), which edge banding it has on each side and whether it is pre-milled. In the settings you enter the blade kerf, board trimming and your saw's limits, and the plan takes all of them into account.

What do I get after optimization?

Dimensioned cutting diagrams, a step-by-step cut sheet with the cutting order, labels to stick on parts, a complete PDF and CSV export for Excel (board, edge banding and offcut requirements).

Can I reuse board offcuts?

Yes. After cutting, the boards used are deducted from stock, and good offcuts can be added back so they are used in the next optimization.

Can I run a quick calculation for a quote?

Yes. Quick optimization is a panel cutting calculator: enter the board and part sizes and instantly see how many boards you need, without filling in stock or the catalog.

How do I learn to use it?

Read the user manual, and for any question write to us. What's new in each version is on the News page.
